You know you look good...I think you do. I think your just fishing for a compliment. My only complaint would be that it's a little DARK when you move into the shadows just right.

I'm curious if that is the same version that John Leong does? One of you brainiacs comment on this please.

It looks very simillar...though I don't remember the begining looking at all like Gung Gee. Chiu Wai's version is definately different.

I have basic issues with the form itself, insofar as it doesn't hold a candle to the "pillar" forms, which are already laid out with full and properly ordered clarity of principle, to be broken down, utilized, or reconstructed based on the qualified individual practitioner's specific training needs...

However, you have asked for an objective critique, so let me offer you this much. I see here that you are representing it in it's "building" phase, and not "release", so it's looking quite well-grounded at that pace...

To be perfectly honest, with the quality of power, leverage dynamics and gate control you show through this form, and without unnecessary superfluous techniques added in, I can say for the first time in my entire career that you are making it look like something that actually might be worthwhile to practice!

haha,thanks guys...im not looking for compliments just wanted to share a spur of moment..u might feel me on this when being hongkong things are differen feeling wise...like being at the mecca..so when i was in the park i just played that form while my girlfriend filmed it..and i just uploaded it..seriously Im not 100% satisfied with my execution as at some points it looks like i hesitate and therefor miss the moment of power generation..anyway,its the feeling of the moment i wanted to share...and I love what u guys had to say..much appreciated...

by the way subitai,John Leongs version is quite similar...the breathing beginning part was added by myself..and comes from another sub set by the name mo saan kuen (martial spirit fist)...

I learned Mui Fa Kuen as taught by John Leong through my SiGung, Kim Hainline, an instructor here in Utah. There are several small differences, but it's fundamentally the same.

- No intro other than a standard salute
- Some of the hand forms are slightly different
- Frank's demonstration seems to have a couple more straight kicks than we do
- We execute the "jump whirling kick" to the West (if start direction is North) rather than turning to face forward as Frank did

I'll see if I can shoot a video clip and post it for you to A/B methods.

Sifu Leong published a good book called "Beginning Shaolin Hung-Gar Kung-Fu" that is an excellent review of basics as well as full instruction for Mui Fa Kuen. I've not seen it around much, but you should be able to get a copy directly from his school.
