TSK, cold start, or?

Postby Asmo » Mon Nov 15, 2010 10:53 am

I noticed there are quite some different preferations on when to do TSK in daily training schedules. I was wondering what the forum prefers.

Personally, I like to do TSK best after some other training. Like a form. GGFFK, or a weapon form. Not too much, but just practice enough too what the Chinese would say "gets the chi flowing". I found that doing TSK after that feels much better then in a "cold start". Of course there are days I cant do a full training session so I only do TSK, but I prefer to do it after a little other training. After that I will usually start with my lin gung training and the rest of my session.

Others I heard of saying they do TSK to warm up for the rest of their training session. That is quite a different route. Others end their session with TSK. Personally, often the training made me quite tired and/or sore already so doing TSK in the end often gives me problems focusing on the set because of tired muscles etc...

What do you prefer? I made this a poll so people can shed their view anonymously as well :) But of course I'd like to read others people opinions as well...

Actually, I thought this might be a good way for people who read the forum but dont want to participate much themselves to cast a vote too while staying anonymous... Ah well, its a function of the forum, right?

I do mine as a seperate training early in the morning. My normal hung gar training and practice is during the middle of the day.

Tsk, Tsk Tsk!

Yu Jeng Jung Kau Dung/ "In Quiet Seek Motion"

In this practice, a calm, quiet mind and relaxed body are the most important points. Prior activity is ok, so long as these two points are met, in order to permit maximum attunement of mind and body during one's Tit Sin Kyun session.

Yu Dung Jung Kau Jeng/ "In Motion Seek Quiet"

Practice should not elevate the respiration or the heart-rate, and should not cause one's thoughts to race, or lead in to emotional excess. Starting in a calm, collected manner is the best way to accomplish this.

After a while, any time that one begins to feel excitable in any way, one can key in to the skills gained from this practice to maintain one's calm composure, whether one is practicing at the time, or for any other day-to-daily purpose.

:)

Best,

Michael
