There’s a few things about this clip I don’t understand. Quite a few in fact! Can anyone explain the triangle theory he is using? Does anyone else use similar techniques?

To be polite, it is different from what I have learned. He does not move like someone who trains HK in my opinion.

From my perspective, some of the things he is doing are not practical at all. Much of what he is demonstrating only works because his student is cooperating.

markt thank you for saying it first. the apps he gives are literal and do give room for variation by the attackers part. you a good sifu to explain applications. i would not recommend to take this vid to seriously.

Triangles/3 points whatever I only came upon in Hung Kuen in the way of structure. Theres also 3 distances (& doors) but thats not really triangles.

I can't force myself to look again but I thought he was just doing an explanation for the opening of FHSYK which might explain the lack of body movement.

The guy in the vid is Dennis Decker. He hung out with Pai Lum guys for a while, then claimed he inherited a southern chinese style called "chi lin" which he created in the US. They do a highly kempo-ized interpretation of tiger-crane, by way of kempo-->pai lum--> chi lin.

If I recall correctly, Mr. Decker died last year, or the year before.

Thank you all for your comments, particularly thanks to Asmo for the drawing. (I like the green showing the sum of the vectors of the force.) I had read the thread on triangles but hadn’t made the connection with his guy. I can’t see what he is trying to say. Any two points make a straight line. Any three points make a triangle. At the same time however he is respected by some. Has anyone heard of meridial triangles before?

None of that had any connection to what I have been taught or shown before. I didn't really understood him. I just watched once, so I might have missed something though. But even then, it must've rang a bell if it was a commonly used theory in Hung Kuen.
