PM: Sorry, what I am trying to ask is why are the rings not good for long bridges but good for short bridges? Hope this makes sense.

TT: Where is he located? I think he I read something about him being in Fayetteville, NC. If that is so...he is just 30 minutes away from me...YAY!!!

he has them in different weights. As far a s the difference between those and kettlebells? I think the fact that they are longer, adds a different feel to them. In the book, "The intelligent swordplay of the Lamaist school", by Lo Wai Keung, (is there a Stupid Swordplay form as well?) they show an exercise at the end for the mok yee pai. It is eventually performed on the Moi Fa Jong.

i also feel that the different shape, center of gravity etc. gives a different feeling than kettlebells, so i would like t have a pair of muk yi paai. still, i will keep my kettlebell routine, for different reasons. thnx for info!

Sorry for the late reply.

PM: So its more a personal choice for that matter? When I was doing it, the only thing that made me feel uncomfy was the pounding on the back of the fist, but that is to be expected. Is there an actual health risk like down the road or anything?

TT: I got it confirmed that it is the place that is just 30 minutes away..YAY!!! Maybe I could make a trip up there some days and get some training straight from him.

if it was practiced like this by numerous practitioners of previous generations of long/short bridge systems, i think it is not a matter of personal choice. health risk, maybe, maybe not, but i am talking about progress.

anyway, follow what your sifu has taught you, not what you learn on in the "lessons" on the net. i might be a teenager who has learnt a bit here or there, picked couple of things from a books or form aniother forum, and now, a wise guy, i am preaching and giving an advice to others :-)

just kidding, you what i mean. ask your sifu, buddy! all the best in your training

PS: happy for you, Chin sifu is a top class!

CJ-lucky guy! I would love to spend some time with Sifu Chin. I met him awhile back, and was talking to him about how the long arm techniques came into Hung-Ga from Wong Yun-Lum,and how I wanted to see how Hop-Ga played their techniques- and he was very open and said he would love to spend time with me and explore this. He seems like a very genuine person. I have all his books. They are collectors items now!
When you go down to see him, start a blog here.

hahaha I understand PM. I will give her a call.

TT: I will see if I can meet with him sometime next week. Who knows, maybe make a day trip down there every other week if I can just to explore their style. I have never done a blog before, but I will try. 8)

I think what TT means is start a thread on the subject here and report your progress. :)
