Hello, does anyone know of a school that was in Toroptno called, E-Caun Mun? I am trying to find the instructor and information about it. He taught Hung gar, Northern Shaolin and White Crane. Do you know the instructors name? and where he went, and the lineage?

This thread is about the Wong Lee lineage, so why are people posting about things other than that?!? LOL

Oh, well...I've been guilty of the same thing before

Bruce,

I know of a couple of places within the Toronto area that teach hung gar. They are from the same family from Jin Mo in T.O. Chinatown.

Back on track for this thread,

Does anyone know a comprehensive list of what students of Wong Lee actively teach, and where? I would like to do some visiting in the not too distant future :)

i know personaly Leung Gamgwong sifu (he is in his 70's) of Hong Kong, one of the close disciples of Wong Lei. last time i have spent quite a lot of time with him and his student, Mr. Wong, working on bench, discussing the baat gwa long pole, tit sin kyun and "night tiger emerges from a jungle". Mr. supernice guy and gentleman with a vast knowledge and great skill. he is definitely worth to visit.

btw., my sigung's school is full of photos of Wong Lei, there are also some mirrors which Wong Lei has dedicated to my sigung. i will search through my archive and post some Wong Lei photos for u guys!

Thank you Pavel, that is exactly the kind of information I am looking for. Perhaps I will head out to HK this year with one of my students (he grew up there), and an introductory letter from my Sifu as well. I would like to see some of how much things vary in our lineage, especially regarding some of the intricacies in the short bridge work if nothing else. I don't practice TSK as of yet (that set is a long time coming in our school), but even just seeing how they move would be worth the trip for me.

i can help u to get in touch with Leung sifu, i am sure he will be pleased to see somebody from the "family".

anyway, u know that in our family Wong Lei is regarded as student of Lam Jou (not only by Lam family, but also by other stdents of Wong Lei, Leung sifu as well; just a statement, i know that in your family he is regarded as student of Lam Saiwing, and have no problem with that- one family, different stories/point of view, no prob). Leung sifus sets and way he moves are almost the same as we do it, with just few details different here and there, but really few. he teaches two sets that he has picked up from others (Leung Winghang, Bun Gwaiyat), buttefly palm and mui fa kyun, plus the "night tiger emerges from the forest" - my sigung does not know/teaches these.

i have some footage of leung sifu, damn, i have really tight schedule right now, but i will definitely post it here on the server.

here are some pics containing Wong Lei as well:

I would love to see footage if you have it :) Any mention of him practicing the mantis set Bung Bo/Bung Bo Kuen? I know that Wong Lee taught that set to at least one of my seniors back in the day.

Hi 06linsim,

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew they taught a "village" style but i didn't know the tiger crane stuff was not part of the curriculum. I have heard he's an excellent instructor, if that's worth anything. From what i understand, there are many branches of Hung Kuen and not just the Fu Hok Pai. Could be he comes from one of these. So would they include some northern stuff too since their school is Jing Mo? Would it be associated to the San Fran Jing Mo association?

No, i'm not in Toronto anymore. Moved away a few years back due to family.

I trained at a place in Mississauga that did hung gar but it was from a different line again because there was no tiger/crane, taming tiger, 10 shape fist or iron wire forms.

You learn something new everyday, regarding the Jing Mo and their Sifu association with San Fran. Not sure what you mean by animal styles being made up, but i guess it's meant that it's not authentic? given to fool's?

You train to T.O.?
