I know this isn't the thread to ask this but while we are on the subject!:
Can anyone recommend a good online site for the study of Qi? I especially would be looking for diagrams and such, (too much writing can loose me sometimes!)

Also looking for more detailed info on dantian breathing techniques and its relationship to meridians etc

I would suggest Yang Jwing Ming's material ibuchanan82. I don't think anything else comes close, especially on websites where space is not so readily available.

Some to start with: His 1st, 2nd and 6th DVD on Qigung. "Shaolin White Crane" book and "Qigong for Health and Martial Arts". If you just want one, get the last I mentioned. It covers all theoretical aspects properly, as well as some practical pointers.

The white crane book goes indepth in both ard and soft qigong patterns. You probably want the DVD's as well if you want to go practical. Still the book is very good if you just want the theory.

The DVD's are brilliant as well. The first are explaining qigung theory. The last is about martial qigong and breathing, looked at ina more practical way.

just a sidenote: the set that uses daan ji kiu sau most is tit sin kyun. i personally would no dare to change it.

plus, as one of my classmates wrote me recently:

PM, if tit sin is so old (and kiusao being important in it as you say (I don't know tit sin, so I would not know)), saying it dates back to nam siulam as well, what would have been used prior kiusao days in your opinion? Or maybe the finger really adds something and has been a real improvement?

anyway, i have tried my tit sin kyun without daan ji kiu sau, and it just does not feel right at all.

some things work, i may not understand how and why, but i keep practicing them because they work.

first section of gjjffk is almost identical with tsk, first half of fhsyk is heavily influcenced by tsk. Hung Kyun of our lineage is logical, comprehensive and interconnected system. in your very first moves of gjffk there is a seed of the last treasure, ie. tsk.

The single finger "Kiu-Sao" has been used in other systems such as Hop-Ga, and is also found in Yik Gung Ging, and versions of Bot Duen Gom(sp?)"Draw bow to shoot the eagle/tiger." and has probably found its way into Hung Kuen through those means. This would point to a Hei-Gung application that was "adopted/adapted" as a revolutionary symbol.
BTW-SPM also uses this hand formation.
