What's interesting is no mention was made about the taoist influence in Hung Ka as opposed to the common story of Damo. The fact that in Chinese culture sanjiao zhi yi, three religions in one is one of the aspects to understand as opposed to our western cuture, i.e. catholics against protestants against new born christians against orthodox or for liberation. The history is even more complex however in Chinese history although they also fought against each other, common people kept popular beliefs and religions beliefs in one place. I have noticed in some schools the importance of taoist talismans, popular gods (Guanyu, Zhang Fei) and this is far beyond of the common belief in our culture.

We meet at a church twice a week. Saturday, one of my students told me that she was thinking of taking her kids (3yo & 5yo also my students) to church sometime to see if they like it. She asked her 5yo daughter, "Would you like to go to church sometime?" And little Sammy answered, "But we already go to the Church of Kung Fu!"

I know this is a very old thread, and probably dead and forgotten, but the initial poster's second question was how to relate to Qi and how that ties in with Christianity. I haven't been a Christian for some years now, but I do know the bible rather well. Loose quote: 'In the beginning there was nothing... and he made Adam out of clay, and breathed life into him. Need I ramble about Qi and breath, soul and spirit, or is the connection pretty obvious?

Well,even if you are not a christian but a buddhist vegetarian,you would also have some doubts abot learning hung ga since Lam sai wing was a pork butcher. (You know I'm not serious right?)
