Mui Fah Kuen

Hey,

I currently work on a book for Mui Fah Kuen as we practice it in the Lau Family..
With the help of PM I already got the names and of course I have my own infos..but I was curious what more infos are out there so if you have this set what dou know about it ?
This book will be for free download as pdf,will feature the form and applications and history...

I agree, then why do alot of Hung Gar schools teach Moi Fa or Lau Ga instead of the Traditional Gung Ji Fook Fu Kuen?

If they want to stay "traditional" then that form is supposed to be taught first.

Well.. these days, we consider Gung Ji the first "real" Hung Kuen form the student learns.. but through history who really learned it as the first form ?
It has always been up to the sifu teaching.. probably Wong Fei Hung taught differently than Lam Sai Wing, and so on down the line....
It is suggested that both Wong Fei Hung and Lam Sai Wing modified parts of the forms and added to the curriculum... so how long is the history of our curriculum ? 1-2+ generations, depending who you learned from... ?

We can take it a step further and say if they want to stay "traditional" then they should only train sei ping ma for the first year...

Moi Fa was originally modified from an older form that is seen in some Hung Kuen systems, not associated with LSW or others from his generation. WFH's Hung-Ga is an amalgamation of his experience, including outside sources.
So who is to say what is, or what is not traditional?

although our family does not practice and teach mui fa kyun, from all the "minor" sets i find mui fa kyun to be most usefull (just as i already said before, having an orthodox guard, i do not like the right leg right hand mode that much)
