Mok Ga Right Heart Penetrating Kick in Lau Ga set?

In Lau Ga we kick similar, but to the groin (the heart penetrating is just exagaration for a nice name). Do you agree that we can call this kick in our Lau Ga set "right heart penetrating kick" ?

Secondly I wonder if some already have included a left side kick like this in their set?

in simple visul terms its just a thrust kick.

You could if you want, since Lau Ga Kuen was adopted by Hung Ga but created from Mok Ga gung fu right?

I had heard that the Lau Ga set was formulated by Lam Jo.

Can't remember what it is based on but there are alot of Lum Jo lineage people here that could answer it.

The way we kick *in the form* is slightly lower, targeted more at the knee. Some call this a chicken kick, some call it a spade kick.

When I remember right ...Lam Jo learned that set,which is indeed originally a Mok Gar set, from a friend named Lau..thats why he called it Lau gar kuen...

The way I play it is a kick downwards toward the knee. The left lead hand is a palm block or clearance after a right hand strike is blocked or grabbed by your opponent. The left hand block and kick are done simultaneously. It is less a vertical foot thrust kick as shown in the pic.
Sometimes you can come down on the shin if your really close.

That's how I play it in my line which is from Lum Jo via my Sifu. Others might play the kick differently playing the Lau Gar set.

originally, the kick in Lau ga kyun was played like on the pics (however, it was delivered to the knee). some call it "golden rooster kick" (gam gaai geuk), others "shovel/stomping kick" (chaan geuk). it was changed later to regular "groin kick" (liu yam geuk). when kicking higher (to the daan tin or solar plexus, like on the pics), it is called "heart penetrating kick".

So its pretty much like the basic "Spring Kick" found in the Northern Tan Tui routine.

It can be altered to various targets/heights.
