while you will be mentioning the various lineages of Siu Lam Hung Ga Kuen I presume the book will be based on the teachings of Lam Sai Wing.

What I mean by this is that Old Style/Village versions don't use alot of the same terminology or even theory in some cases as those found in LSW lineage.

Even the branches that come from WFH have some quite glaring differences.

So what I mean is that your encyclopedia would be a nice overview of te teachings within the various branches of the Lam Sai Wing Lineage.

I would assume Mark Haughtons inclusion as a master of the style would be an obvious suggestion, being the driving forc currently behind the lau family lineage. I might also suggest his students who are now also respected teachers Frankie Lau in manila and also Wayne Husbands in the uk.

Question: Would you discussing the variations found in differant lineages, if so when demonstrating a style will you be picking a prefered family style? or will you try to represent these variations as fairly as possible. For example some forms shown in the Lam family then show a couple in the Lau style and so on? I think this would be a good thing to do.

ngokfei: the book is based mainly on Wong Feihung's branch of Hung Kyun, of course, as it is definitely most widespread branch of the system which is called Hung Kyun today; however, information from other (in the west unknown and even in China not very spread) branches will be also presented. because of the book, i have made an extensive research this year in China, and have interviewed cca. 12 masters from various lineages,a dn got some rare and precious written documents. the curriculum may differ, but the terminology and training methodology is very close or almost identical with Wong Feihung's branch of Hung Kyun. any info on other branches is appreciated.

crazedjustice888: sets and techniques will not be demonstrated, it is not a textbook. the entries will be accompanied just by some old photos from various families, including some rare and in the west not known.

as i said before, only Chinese masters of the older generation will be included - i would like to avoid "why this guy is there and me not" kind of issues.

although i can assure the readers that so far such survey (with the exception of the book by Wing Lam sifu) of the system was never published in such extent, the book is still called Concise Encyclopedy of Hung Kyun, not Complete Encyclopedy of Hung Kyun.

the work on the Encyclopedy is progressing fast

currently i am looking for mor info about:

- Hung Kyun masters in Malaysia and Singapore, especially Sung Siupo (student of Lam Saiwing), his son Sung Chiuyun, Jeung Wingkwan (student of Sung Siubo) etc. - bios, pictures, curriculum

- Dang Fong lineage and his successors, especially details about curriculum

- mainland China Hung Kyun - never enough info on this topic

any other info appreciated; i really want the book be a comprehensive survey of all important, major or lesser known lineages of our art

of course, anybody who will provide any useful info or materials will be given credit in the book - many forum members are on the list already

i will soon post a sample from the book!

Ng Ga Hung Kyun? you mean Ng Bingkyun sifu's teaching? if it is what you mean, my analysis:

a) it is not a Ga case, in a sense of Lam Ga, Jiu Ga, Taam Ga, Dang Ga (from Canton) etc. (meaning more generations of the same family, like 3 and more); Ng Sik Hung Kyun would be more appropriate, if Ng sifu wishes to distinguish his teaching from the rest of WFH/LSW Hung Kyun (sometimes called "New Hung Kyun" or "Fatsaan Hung Kyun" or "Fu Hok Hung Kyun" or... ). same goes for eg. Grandmaster Chan Honjung (certainly to be included!), there is no such thing as Chan Ga Hung Kyun.

b) it is WFH/LSW lineage - having met Ng sifu i can say differences for sure, but much, much more similarities to what other (especially LSW) lineages do

i hope to get more info on Hon Seuihoi and Yun Winggwai teachers of Ng sifu to include it into the Encyclopedia, both gentlemen belong to the famous HK masters of the last century, info on Ng sifu as their heir will be also included

if you mean some other Ng Ga Hung Kyun, or i am wrong, so i am all ears, more info and more accurate info for the Encyclopedy!
