Meanwhile back to the clip.
Does anybody use the “tiger hook” technique ? I’ve seen sifu hamby use it on other vids. But it doesn’t make sense to me.
Are all these techniques meant for practical fighting ? Sometimes beginners techniques are about showing principles rather than application e.g low stances, learning to keep stances down is good but using them in a fight not so.

Single tiger claw is always followed by elbow floating into tiger hooking. This is how you clear the body and manipulate the opponent in close. This repeats many times in Fu Hok Seung Ying Kuen.

Ok so I miss remembered it a little. He does use this technique personally in other clips but in fact it is the first technique performed by the students.
Note the one in the red sinks back well out of range of the punch as she applies the hook. I'd call that medium range not close and isn’t the high elbow just an invitation for a kick in the floating ribs ?

Just discussing and out of curiousity...
Does anyone want to give a time stamp for when they heard Don out of breath?
I didn't really hear him that way. In fact if you've ever seen his video of him doing the wire, you'd notice that his sounds are very similar.
I can say from personal experience that I Highly doubt Don would be out of breath. If anything, he is in his own way, channeling his energy with his breath.
I bet when most people look at him they assume he's slow cause he's big. Don is very fast for a man his size and I remember doing long sets of choreography with him on the set of KWOON and he could flow and move with the best of them.
One other caveat about Don, he is able to be very soft and responsive with his kung fu if he wants to. He's not only about the hard power in the Hung.
I like Don cause he's old school... Like 70's old school. When I was just getting into it, he was already kicking arse.
