I can follow your views explained. But I also have to add that I consider myself a beginner for at least another 5 years or so, and that I have seen multiple applications for the same move for most of our forms so I'm not 'stuck' into a single application per move.
But blocking a kick like that would indeed hurt your wrist. I know since I have wrist probs from doing stuff like that 20 years ago
