Hi jow yeroc - thanks for your honesty.
My turn: Some of the youtube comments were very negative (one said "wushu-ized"), but I'm of the same opinion as you that it is not a bad performance. And like you I too have seen some "non-wushu'ized" versions on youtube from chinese Sifu's that were way worse than this one.
It's true that the performer is being needlessly "flashy", but I like the dynamic nature of his interpretation, and although it has the rythm of modern "wushu", I don't feel he steps or moves like "wushu" at all.
BTW some of the stuff in this set I don't agree with, but on the whole it looks ok, and I think it shows an interesting and different take on the set.
Anyone know what lineage this is?
What is the sound of one-hand clawing?
