My comment I tried to post on youtube, but alas...you blocked me. Pfffft.

No no no dummy!

"Why? Because in truth, most of the schools I see out there DO NOT know how to apply their bridging concepts on NON traditional people. So they end up training forms but fighting like Kick Boxers. This is a shame in my opinion."

This video is the example you listed for this. So where are the non traditional people you're applying your sylized bridging concepts on???

It's a great post, a great plan, bu not demonstrated in your video. Quite frankly, I admire your balls for getting into the UFC. NONE of the other posters here will ever be able to say they stepped up like you did. None of them. Ever.

However, you fought a relatively untrained amateur from a questionable background yes?
A lot of it was low grade ground fighting, simply not present in CMA.
So how about an example, not necessarily from you, of Hung Kyun/Ga/Gar/whatever against a trained, non-traditional aka MMA opponent of say relatively equal experience. I'd grant 3 years of one step, freeze frame or patty cake drilling and forms training of the traditional guy for every 1 year of live training for the non traditioonal guy.

Really, it's a great forum post and concept, but how about some non hostile follow up?
My guess is it won't happen. :P

RHD,

I notice that you let others call you "Sifu" at events in your home state... but "Sifu" in what?

Keep posing as a "disenfranchised (Hung Ga) Sifu", and your "students" will leave you as soon as they realize you actually have nothing of substance to really offer them, just as you left yours.

Rather than playing silly trolling games, trying to insult us into explaining ourselves to you (so you can try to look and sound like us around your "students" and the public), why not just put up video of your own?

You can start with some of your own ideas on "Hung Gar Applications", and, oh yes...that footage of you competing in Lei Tai (against Tae Kwon Do) would also be nice...just so you can really make your point with us.

Meanwhile, if you're really such a hot shot MMA, don't you think that "Coach" would be more appropriate?

Seriously though!

 :D

Goodwin, you're way behind and as usual a total dipwad.

I never asked anyone to call me sifu in anything.

I don't train in or teach any CMA at all. It's a waste of my time.

3-4x per week I grapple. You might have heard of this...They're 100% live sports called Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo.

You, however, for many many years have had something to say and nothing to show. Whether for good or for bad, I've fought at the amateur level. Full contact. I train all out with younger, more athletic, and far more gifted folks than you for sure.
Show...not me, but all you're buddies here in kung fu fantasy land what you'd do against a big, mean, non traditional fighter. My bet is that you'd shit your pants.

if you dont like CMA, and think it's a waste of time, why are you wasting yours and posting on a Hung Kuen forum dedicated to a specific style of CMA??? Mr RHD seems like you're trying to convert, or to plain criticise people who are happy with their chosen art

if YOU dont like Hung Gar, Wing Chun etc as a policeman might say "move along there's nothing to see HERE", you are happy with grappling etc,,,,good I am happy for you, personally I DONT like it but I wouldnt presume to disrespect your choice of martial art, and wish you the best of luck.

As for personal feuds, although several people on this forum seem free to pursue them without fear of sanction from the administrator, others, like my kung fu brother (si-hing) was banned for it (although the other party was free to do/say what "he" likes...and still is) so be aware that luxury isnt extended to everyone and in my opinion is a waste of time...if you have a problem with a member of this forum isnt it better to deal with it face to face especially if you know who/where he is (something my si-hing was never able to do coz the other party refused to say where he is??)....then you can prove your method is superior

best of luck RHD

RHD, your public admission to trolling says what kind of person you are.

You're just like a Child red boy...."show me" "show me" "show me"
I wouldn't call posting 5+ vids holding back. Your level is just too low to understand what i'm showing. Any Hung Kyun practitioner who has done the work of making his skills viable can see it in what I have shown.

You're the one who traveled to "Riks" place... How many times did you come to New York? (seriously I don't know) Didn't find what you were looking for? If you would have just pulled your head out of your a-ss, I would have shown you somethings that would have opened your eyes. It was a perfect opportunity...I would have sparred with you, but you were so Jaded at that point you were beyond help.

You haven't put ANYTHING UP and you challenge me to put up more? Fighters will always be fighters regardless of stylistic choice. The fact that you don't see that belies your skill in understanding.

Silly egg,
Subitai

Ok, so where were we before so rudely interrupted by that bitter little troll...

Ah yes, "Kung Fu (Hung) Concepts Basic Entries, apply & Misc":

Now, most people know "Hung Style", if the general public, because they saw a "Shaw Brothers" movie, or if a martial artist, because they saw the "Tiger and Crane Set" performed somewhere, or some combination of the two.

This has sparked no end of curiosity, leading eventually to a proliferation of video home-learning, the result of which has would-be enthusiasts dutifully attempting to practice the forms, with little to no understanding of their meaning.

Also, any martial artist is going to be naturally curious, about "what another art might have to offer."

That's why it's so cool, when a known, qualified Hung Gar expert such as Subitai, is generous to publish his experience and ideas in training/ application, both on Youtube and this forum (also "free of charge", if I might add).

Now, I would invite others here to salute his example, discuss the clips as posted, or add anything at all to support this general topic. It could be something personal, or even something interesting we've seen.

Moving forward, here is a clip by renowned New York Hung Gar expert, Sifu Carl Albright:

Enjoy!

:D

Best,

Michael

While I agree much of what RHD say about most kung fu practitioners, I disagree that O falls in this category. What I know and can see by the vid he displays, he represents solid knowledge. In fact RHD, if you had a shred a understanding of Hung Kuen you would see that the basic info he presents in his online vids actually can be applied to a grappling situations. You can use just about all of O info as entry to a shoot or a take down from standing.

While yes, the opponent may have not been Anderson Silva if you watch the vid he IS striking very hard. It also was in the day of NO gloves. Dude has some respect, unless you have been in the octagon you have no leg to stand on.

I personally have used such sticky hands against BJJ practitioner up to a black belt level and been able to hold my own. I also do have some ground fighting in my background, along with 20 years of hung Kuen. To fight at a real competitive level you must be balanced in stand up and ground along with have GREAT conditioning.

I do agree that many Kung fu people are a still delusional about applying their sets to a real combat situation. It is a classic mess Bruce lee talked about in the 70's. The mess in my opinion has returned. If you are doing sets to keep a tradition and keep healthy fine. But unless you "get in the ring" please don't live in the idea because you do Gung gee endlessly without sparring that you can actually use it.

Most never actually put gloves on and spar. From my lineage I really dig that Pavel does it as does the Buck Sam Kong school. Sifu John Leong also actively has brutal sparring matches(generally no gloves).

Things are VERY different when you have a aggressive, skilled opponent. I invite any of you who disagree to walk into any Gracie JJ school and take the open fight challenge at each one that is open. Post the fight on youtube and then let's see what you have to say.

That being said. I got a C note that say O can take RHD.
