"Hoi Jong" of FHSYK

I am referring to the opening of the set which has the double 'wing arms' in the bow.
I used to think this was just a LSW trademark, but I have also seen it in Tang Fung versions, as well as a Luk Ah-Choy version from Guangzhao.
So for you Hung Kuen historians, (coughmikecough) anyone know the origins and significance of this opening?
I have seen various versions from plain, to Jow Ga's hoi jong, to Fu Jow Pai's version. Everyone seems to have their own version.

Don't forget Mok Gwai Laam - Li Chan Wo lineage has it

In my lineage it's also said Lam Sai Wing left it out (later). This implies Wong Fei Hung may have had it and Lam Sai Wing may have tought it initially (when teaching in Gwongdung, and thus to Lau Jaam).

It's always connected with the movement 美人照鏡. (beauty looks into a mirror, in this case used as a thrusting palm rather than Gung Ji's block hand.)
In Jow Ga they mostly have the Thrusting Palm after Spreading the Wings (different from Gordon Liu's clip).
