The character pair 還魂 appears earlier in 還魂拳法.
Which I have seen translated as Returning Soul Fist Method. I sometimes think that westerners like the mystique of these names when many of them are quite perfunctory. My preferred translation for 還魂 is in the same spirit.

還魂拳法 "In the same spirit (as the previous move), punch"
and
還魂飽鶴 "In the same spirit (as the previous move), Crane eats its fill"

But someone once wrote on a forum that the best translation is your own.

I see the "reincarnation" a bit differently-If you intercept the strike right to right on the inside, you are put in a bad position,one in which you can be trapped. But it could well happen. This is what I call the "Oh shit scenerio." By hooking and shifting, you go from inside gate to outside gate, controlling the bridge, and delivering your strike. You go from being "dead," to reincarnated!

I'll have to do some hunting see for other names that can spark discussions like this. Either way, different interpretations gave me different views on the technique again.

One of the things that stand out in Hung-Ga's sets are the including of 'emergency techniques' -aka O.S.S., they appear in many sections, as well as strategies such as feints, set-ups, baiting,escapes from traps into re-traps,evasive footwork, as well as some darn right sneaky stuff.
Let people say what they will about WFH, but I think he was a genius for formatting the sets, combining methods from other systems,long range,short range,hei-gung,noi-gung,etc. to create what we have today as Hung-Ga.
I think these can all be separate topics for future exploration.

TT- It's true. What I see in Hung is a deep system that has many different things to explore and train.

From WFH the branches seem to sprout many different flavors.
