tek gwoon refers to going around and challenging other schools to force them to submit or go out of business because they're not quality/want to make a name for yourself.
If you watched the first Ip Man movie with Donnie Yen, what the northern fighter does to every school in the area is essentially that. If you didn't watch that movie... watch any 80s-90s HK kung fu movie and I'm sure you'll see it at play.

Hmmm? maybe we should go around and beat up all of these. Not that I would want to steal their students. It would just feel good to get rid of those knuckleheads.

I'm sure I saw a comment by Jerry Cook on a youtube vid stating his gratitude to Bucksam Kong for personally teaching him fu hok many years back. Weird, wouldn't he have gone through gung gee or the like first and now have that divided up, watered down & renamed here & there? Anyhoo...
