hello, welcome to the forum!
my 2 cents:
1) for general idea, check out YouTube.com - type Hung Ga, Hung Gar, Hung Kuen. another good starting point is this forum - go through the past posts.
2) i do not know. anyway, if you are serious about Hung Kyun training, you will travel to the next city, state or other side of the world, as many of us have done and still do. a good Hung Kyun school might not be around the corner, unfortunately.
3) well, everting can be self-taught, but... i strongly suggest to find a good teacher. most of the Hung Kyun instructional material available is not any good, especialy for a beginner. myself, learning for many years from a sifu, cannot think about beginner learning from a book or video,e evn such "simple" thigns as basic stance. fundamental training and strong basics are everything. in China it is said: "it is not difficult to learn gungfu, but it is almost impossible t correct bad gungfu".
4) for any gungfu beginner i personally recommend a book by Paul Eng sifu, Kungfu Basics. Wing Lam sifu's book (Southern Shaolin Ling Nam Hung Gar ) is currently the most comprehensive book about our system on the market (just the history part of the book is imho not very good). i also recommend books by Wong Kiew Kit sifu on Southern Shaolin.
good luck!
