Wong Fei Hung museum

Hi everybody,

I guess some of You have been there.
I´m going to HK with some of my student in February and we´re thinking about going there. Can You recommend a visit? How do I get to the museum? I can´t find any info on the internet. Is it within reach from HK?

I've been there as part of an organised trip, so I am not really the one to ask how a 'normal' visit would be. Things were organised for us (as an exchange) which might be very different from a casual visit. Its not something you can do on an afternoon from HK. The travel is quite long, and you would probably have to leave out the Foshan ancestral temple with the temple for Wong Fei Hung which is a must-do when you find yourself there. I advice to stay at least a night, maybe two. Then there's also Chinwoo which you might want to visit ...

Check out when they do liondance/kungfu demonstrations. Although modern, its absolutely brilliant. They do have some displays and all (although in Chinese) and some things like stonelocks its not a full fledged museum of any sort and worth to visit for that reason alone.

Personally, I liked the Ancestral Temple more. That complex of temples is brilliant. Take plenty of time there. If you're into that kind of stuff even a day wont be enough.

About travel between the two (or three) locations you will have to ask someone else, I hope someone steps in. We got traveled around and to be honest the distance between the three locations might be quite undoable in a day or 2, or it might be very doable, we had a very busy schedule so its a bit hard for me to judge

i have been to Fatsaan cca. 4 times; this year i am going there again, with agroup of almost dozen of students. the museum is very small, not much to see, but still a lot. as Asmo said, make sure you go through the Ancestral temple (Jou miu) and visit Fatsaan Jing Mou Association

I was in HK this Year and planned to visit Fatsaan, but at the End i didn´t. The train takes 4 Hours (or so) and you have to stay at least one night, because there is (was) only Train back to HK on a day, and you cannot make any useful sightseeing if you want to catch it on the same day.

It seems like it´ll need some more planning, perhaps we´ll do the visist another year when we have some more time to spend.

everybody will tell u in Fatsaan where Jou miu is (it is actually the address). there is both Wong Feihung and Yip Man museum. taxi is very cheap in China, just take a taxi form anywhere you get out in Fatsaan, easy!
