Meeting of three families

This morning, PM (Lam family), Franky Lau (Lau family) and myself (Chiu family) met at 6am in the rain in Kowloon Park. PM and Franky have been meeting up for a few mornings now and this was my first opportunity to catch up with them since returning from Australia.

For me, it was well worth getting out of bed at 5.30am for. In two hours and notwithstanding having a very small covered space due to the rain, we covered topics such as:

* Hung Gar techniques for use in chi sau;
* PM's reports from Hung Gar sifus in Futsan and elsewhere in the mainland;
* Rattan ring training;
* Franky Lau's Hung Gar bag routine;
* Lion dancing choreography;
* Differing versions of Moi Fah Kuen;
* The Lau, Lam and Chiu versions of Yiu Ga Dai Pa;
* The Lam and Chiu dragon sections of Sup Ying Kuen and the Lau family initial section of Tit Sin Kuen;
* Lam Sai Wing's sabre set;
* Sections of Gung Ji; and
* The Chiu family Sup Dok Sau.

It was like a super-condensed version of the forum discussions and my only regret is not being able to take notes.

hello to all,

we have met with Franky on Sunday, and since than we went to the Kowloon Park every morning at 6 PM.

i was very happy to learn more about Lau family Hung Kyun and Malaysian Hung Kyun. we have discussed many different topics, went through a different techniques, drills, compared our curriculum, principles, teaching methods etc., and i can say, that i have learned a lot - many new eye openers.

Tholf already gave a brief description of our "three families meeting" - same as above. although the weather was really bad, no problem for us. thank for bringing all those weapons, Tholf!

what i value most is: although different families might have different issues among themselves, different approach, training methods, or principles, after all, we really are "one family", as the motto of this web goes.

so, thank you guys - i hope to meet you next time when i am here!

just confirm what Pavel and Tholf already said..
For me it was also an eye opener and I learned a lot which I value very high. Pavel is a real gentleman and a real kung fu addict with a very,very huge amount of knowledge and also Tholf seems to be a very enthusiastic and humble hung kuen brother.
For myself I learned many thing about our differences but also about the many many same priciples...just packing my stuff and heading back to Manila..that were some very rich 2 weeks of kung fu and i have a lot digest..heres another pic from a meeting with me and Pavel.
