Well boys and girls, after 11 years in the states it has come time for me to return to Scandinavia. One of the greater things I am looking forward to is the fact that there is a Swedish Hung Gar Association going, with clubs around the country, and also in Norway, so I can actually get some serious guided training going, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel with my boys. It's gonna hurt, it's gonna burn, and probably turn everything I think I know on it's head, and I am hungry as a starving Tiger for it!
I will let you all know what develops.

Hope is not the Arizona law that makes you go back, LOL, I think you are lucky to be close not only areas where they practice good martial art but very goog hunkyun practicioners that I've found over the web and youtube. We want to hear your new training and after compared what you tried to do in the past. I bet you you will see a huge difference.

Mig and Yui, count on it. I might have to start my KGFFK count from zero when I get in depth hands-on correction.

My new big challenge will be to NOT overwhelm the Sifu and his boys with an onslaught of unrelenting questions 24 hours a day, "pardon my shaky voice, but I've been up for three days working the new Kung Gee and section 14 still gives me difficulty even though I've done it the new way over 50 times! Man, coffee is expensive here!"
I am burning more now than when I first found Wing Lam's DVD's and started training Hung Gar! With the new school's permission, I will take a legion of pics and clips both for this board and for my boy Derrick to check out.
As for Arizona law, first of all, I am not in Arizona, and second, my Green Card for permanent resident doesn't expire until 2012, so I'm good. That said, and not knowing the political standpoint of the board moderators, I will say this: I came here from Sweden after going through the proper channels by the book, and have struggled to fit in here from day one, paying taxes from the first dollar I earned. My English might be atrocious and my accent vile, but I never expected anyone to learn Norwegian or Swedish in order to make MY life easier. I never asked for special privileges or programs. I don't care what race you may be, if you come here the right way and try to learn and assimilate, I would have been happy to give you tips and help, maybe even a hand up to get started, (yes yes, the teacher spirit in me.)
If you try to sneak in and demand things for nothing, or that people adjust to YOU, I have even less appreciation for you than american citizens do. I paid my dues, I struggled and fought to make it here on my own the right way.

Don't be surprised you wont get into GGFFK for at least a while... Quite a few schools have obligatory introduction forms first

Yes, I thought that interesting too. Perhaps its just like a driver's license, keeping current on that. It's a moot point now anyway.
As for getting into the Kung Gee, if they want me doing it 'wrong' on my own instead of learning their version while starting from scratch, I have no problem doing that. But the head Sifu seemed very interested in getting me help on it, so I am hoping for the best.

Well, if you are at all interested in the advice of someone who knows, once you find a school worth joining, just "empty your teacup" entirely...
That means, just drop all of your preconception-based biases/ conditions, and just do exactly what they say!
Anything else ("I know this, I know that, I did this, I did that"), you are merely conning yourself out of being given the actual means to realize your own true potential in the art...

Well, he has certainly seems to have put his time with the Chiu family to good use, and apparently distinguished himself in spreading his own particular vision of Hung Kyun around the western hemisphere...
