On my part, I am sure that the relationship between WFH, LSW and DF was strictly between those three men, I am cool with it, and the same for everyone else, so far as I know...

At one point in time I believed that Tang Fong was a student of Wong Fei Hung and a classmate only of Lam Sai Wing. However, as I began to study the history of Tang Fong, my mind was changed.

These are some of the things that I've learned about Tang Fong and his relationship to Wong Fei Hung and Lam Sai Wing.

1. Tang Fong was originally a student of Lam Sai Wing. It is said that our single saber set (Ji Fai Do) was taught to Tang Fong by Lam Sai Wing.

2. When Tang Fong began his training under Wong Fei Hung, he was only taught the Dit Da medicine.

3. While learning Dit Da he learned sets from his classmates such as Gwai Geuk Chut.

4. Wong Fei Hung eventually taught Tang Fong Hung Ga.

My information comes from Ho Lap Tin's Hung Ga Saan Sau, which a classmate translated for me and confirmed by friends. Also, the information in Ho Lap Tin's book Hung Ga self-defense mentions it as well. Then there is the lineage of Chow Wing Duk's which has the same information as Ho Lap Tin's book.

These historical records I will not dispute. So I know and agree with the comment which was stated that Tang Fong was once a student of Lam Sai Wing.

There is alot more to the Dang Fong story than is told. The website here was just something me and my sihing put together briefly (I shouldnt have let him do the writing) but Ill fix it up shortly and further add to it.


I did transfer some of that over to wikipedia recently but dont know if its been seen much.


I hope that this lineage can get proper recognition in the public. Not because its my lineage but because Dang Fong maintained a high standard and was known for staying as close to what Wong Fei Hung as possible.
