What is the true history and origin of Hung Gar?

to add to the confusion-I had heard that Hung Hei-Guen's original surname was Jue, and that he took the Surname Hung out of loyalty to the cause/emperor, etc.

Hmmm, does that mean there is a connection between
Hung-Ga and Jue-Ga?....just a theory I'm working on...

Jyu 朱 - original surname of Hung Heigun jou si. it was a Ming emperor family surname. Hung Heigun's orginal name was Jyu Gucha, he has changed it according to some source to Hung to pay tribute to the first Ming emperor, who rulet under the name Hung Mou

in (one of several) origins of the Southern Mantis system(s) it was originally practiced by the Royal family, which were related to Hung Mo-Jue, hense Jue-Ga. The name was changed to hide the origins from the Chings. It has since been spelled Jue, Jew, Chu,etc and has had different stories of its origins, depending on which system you practice.
