today's Hung Kyun is MMA for more than a century or two - amalgam of different southern styles like Southern Siulam, Baak hok paai, (old) Hung Kyun, lama paai, Mok Ga, Choi Ga... well, any martial art today is.
anybody who starts to implement "modern" equipment like kicking shields, fous mitts, gloves and other protective gear and works on some serious sparring is sooner or later accused of doing "modern" MMA instead of "traditional" martial art. i personally find it stupid. people should look for some no-bullshit realistic training, not bunch of sets and Shaw Bros movie choreography.
i do not know about other schools, but my good friend and gungfu brother Charris teaches in Utrecht and he is doing a very good job there - traditional martial art for modern world. if you are interested in some real world gungfu, pay him a visit!
