Question regarding village hung kuen

Postby Hung_Kuen_Shaolin » Wed Feb 10, 2010 1:46 pm

I was wondering if anyone could actually help me with this, does the village style hung kuen contain the 5 animals that are prevalent in hung xi guans (hung hei gung) style o hung kuen.

Kind regards

depends. In some cases, Village Hung Kuen means a Hung style that was descended from Hung Hei Guen, but not through Wong Fei-Hung, and would be a five animal style.

Cool thanks for clearing that up for me, so does this mean that there are quite a lot of village hung kuen that have descended from the shaolin temple?
The reason for me asking this is because in our style apart from the 4 of the 5 pillars taught in the WFH/LSW lineage we also have a seperate routine for each of the 5 animals, so i'm guessing my teachers teacher would have some extensive knowledge in village style hung kuen

Is your style related to the Hay Say Fu Style? This branch of Hung Gar is taught in the United States by Sifu Wing Lam and it has a separate hand form for each Shaolin animal.

The following is a one of Sifu Wing Lam's students, Master Saleem Alamudeen, performing parts of the hand forms from Hay Say Fu (Four Lower Tigers) Hung Gar.
