Lol.. I'm hardly trying to 'cause trouble'..
I see what you stated in your previous post as an incorrect generalization of a 'traditional Chinese' mindset. It doesn't matter if you have 25 years of experience - you might still never experience the same things I have in 8 years, and vice versa.. Your experience is always going to be filtered through the personal relationship that you have with your teacher/sifu.
Your previous post hints at the fact that you did not have a good relationship with your Sifu (being suspended 3x, ..not giving you information, etc.), and then you said that you found that 'traditional Chinese teachers' are offended if you learn something outside of their teaching... To me this sounds like a generalization.. although it is based on your personal experience, it is still a generalization.
You may find that some more traditional teachers will not teach all students the same. Some teachers will teach differently because of students' natural abilities or skills, or even based on how much they trust their students.
A teacher may be reluctant to teach one student certain things, while freely giving information away to another.. Maybe he sees one student as immature, or a trouble maker.. or maybe just lazy..
I have seen my sifu withhold some information from students he saw as troublemakers.. From their perspective, they may think .. 'traditional Chinese teachers' don't give out much instruction.. but they couldn't see the whole picture...
My sifu was a student of Chan Hon Chung. I am not speaking for him, so I generally don't want to bring him into discussions by casually posting his name on the net. My sifu is a private person, and since everyone knows who Chan Hon Chung is already, it is enough for people to understand where I am coming from lineage-wise.
