"Effete" vs. "Elite"

Postby Daifong » Sun May 01, 2011 4:14 am

Whether it comes to personal development, martial arts in general, or quite actually, any area or field of human endeavor, what guidelines do we have to project and steer the best course possible?

I offer these two contrasting concepts for perspective...

First, "Effete":

ef-fete

1. Depleted of vitality, force, or effectiveness; exhausted: the final, effete period of the baroque style.
2. Marked by self-indulgence, triviality, or decadence: an effete group of self-professed intellectuals.
3. Overrefined; effeminate.
4. No longer productive; infertile.

And now, "Elite":

e-lite

1. A group or class of persons or a member of such a group or class, enjoying superior intellectual, social, or economic status: "In addition to notions of social equality there was much emphasis on the role of elites and of heroes within them".

2. The best or most skilled members of a group.

Just some food for thought...

 :D

Best,

Michael

Humility, self-critism and hard work. Let others worry about status.
