One of the reasons why I like Hung Ga is that at least compared to some other styles..there seems to be less bickering,politics and well..less jerks!
I was having a friendly conversation with a Wing Chun sifu. I asked him if he studies under William Cheung. So he says "No I study under Michael Tse(one of Grandmaster Ip Chuns students). Anyway..it seems by mentioning Grandmaster Cheung, I opened up a whole sh-tstorm of comments. He mentions to me something about William Cheung "not doing Ip Mans lineage" and then mentions some other things which were not the most kind to say.
Sooooo..what do I do like an idiot? I post on the kungfumagazine.com forums with a sincere question. That question was whether or not William Cheung was teaching Ip Man's kung fu or perhaps a different version. I invite you all to notice..I did NOT make a statement such as "Grandmaster Cheung doesn't do Ip Man lineage Wing Cun"..but instead I ASKED IF IT WERE TRUE.
So an (apparently very well known) Wing Chun sifu in Brooklyn, NY(who in spite of his sifu accomplishment--still doesn't have good english skills as he doesn't recognize at this late stage of the game the difference between asking a quesiton and making an exclamatory statement) accuses me of being "certainly a troll" and other ad homenim attacks on my character. When I explain..the purpose of my post was to very if what I was told was true..it went in one ear and out the other. Then another Wing Chun practitioner in Australia (I assume perhaps they both study under Master Cheung?) joins in and some others too.
I commend Hung Ga folks for being more centered and not so irrational and quite frankly unreasonable and immature.
