So right hand forward is southpaw, and left hand forward is orthodox? I have always been more comfortable fighting with my right hand forward, since I am right-handed. Does that make it southpaw? Or is it relative to whichever is your dominant hand?

I am a symmetric freak, so I "mirror" train Mui Fa Kuen. It's a great exercise. Usually I practice it four times, two ortodox and two "mirror".

cool!
sidenote: i personaly believe that Grandmaster Chan Honjung was the person who has promoted mui fa kyun more than anybody else.

Master Chan was really keen of Mui Fa Kuen. Obviously it has been my first kuen in Hon Chung Gymnasium, but Master Chan insisted on it as a warming up tool also after I had learned the advanced forms. He conisdered Mui fa Kuen as the foundations, where the rest of the Hung Kuen was the building. I still practice it frequently in different ways: mirrored, with wrist and ankles extra weights, in the four directions, fast and powerful, slow and... "titsinkuened". It's a great form and every movement is worth a long study and meditation. I love the Mui fa Kuen.

most of our basic fighting techniques are drawn from Moi Fa Kuen-except for element punches. MFK has trapping, sensitivity/reaction drills, bridging, jointlocking, counter trapping, escapes, attacks, etc.
Some may see it as a simple beginner's form, but that is only because they have not taken the time to really examine this valuble set.
-and this is coming from a TF guy!
