They both refer to a different calendar: agricultural calendar than ours and that may be the confusion. Although I was looking at Sifu Yee's site
http://www.yeeshungga.com/tradition/lin ... ihung.html and it says WFH was born in 1950, most of the sites refer as 1847 the year he was born.

According to the first source it appears he was born during the reign of Dàoguāngdì, 16 September 1782 – 25 February 1850 so most likely is between 47-50. I can not find a converter yet but if someone has a brigther idea then it will help.
Thanks,

Sometimes the day of his birth is also given, the 9th day of the 7th month in the 27th year of the reign of Emperor Daoguang (1847).
PM, you seem to base his birthdate on the dates given on several chinese websites.
I can imagine, giving his year of death and his way of living and training, that he was born in 1847 and not 9 years later.
