Ask your Sifu. A person that works with an individual on a regular basis (potentially) has a much better picture of what doors to lead them too.[/quote

I tried one thing today. I just walked up and down my back yard with rings on my arms just doing the wave punch. Slowly so as to make sure I am doing the right technique. Does this sound good?
Oh and on a side note, I saw a pic of Lam Sai Wing doing the wave punch except the fist that was in the back had the back of the hand pointing up. Here is the pic.
If you look at his back hand the knuckles are pointing at the floor. However when I do it, my body makes the back of my hand face the floor while my knuckles point upward. Am I doing it wrong or does it even matter?
HungFamilyFist: I hear ya on that...lol

i do not recommend to do the long hands with the rings. punch with the weights IN your hands, not ON your hands.
we do seui long paau cheui exactly as Lam Saiwin jousi (well, no wonder, Lam Ga Hung Kyun); there is a reason for that. why do you do it as you do it?

Are the weights on the arms as opposed to in the hands bad? Sorry, I am still kind of new.
It feels natural to not turn my fist when I do it. Should I train to turn the fist?

crazedjustice888,
ok,when you do the pow choi what is ur first hand doing ?
Do you see the pow choi just as a strike ? Or could it also be something else in combination with the first hand?
The first hand is a falling backfist...coming down while the pow choi comes up..so u have scissor effect..since ur first hand is coming down with the backfist downwards it should be upwards when behind the body....
what could be this combination for ?

crazedjustice88: FrankyLau already answered the question. as for the weights, rings are not good for the "long bridge" drills, but of course very useful for the "short bridges".

Franky: Wow...thats...I never thought of that. I don't know what the combination could be for...lol So its basically like when your setting up you bring a downward backfist and using the rotation you swing the other hand up? I have also seen this technique used in defense of the upper gate.
PM: Thanks. Is the reason behind it that it will stress the body to much?
