Hello All,

Time for a wakeup call! The forum has been quiet for a while... Everybody gone on vacation?

Last week I was shown the Lam family turning halfway through Gung Gee Kuen at PM's gwoon in Prague. The move is right before the repetition in horsestance.

After the last armbreak:
- stomp the right foot besides the left & make fists
- turn the body & lower yourself into sei ping ma

This effectively makes the move a throw.

In the Chiu family I learned an alternative turn.

After the last break:
- left arm pulls the arm while the right foot closes in and stamps on the opponents foot. The right elbow is planted simultaneously into the ribs.

After this we are standing upright and continue the form.

Do you have any other ways of performing this turn? Any other idea's/interpretations? Anything else you'd like to say?

we do it in a similar way as you explained it,after the 4th armbreak we turn to the left..right foot stomps next to the left foot and the left elbow pushes out backwards,the laft palm gets close to the right shoulder like an inside palm block...our knees are slighly bent.
After that the left foot goes backwards then we make a 90 degree turn into sai ping ma and push out fist and palm...

application would be an elbow strike against someone standing closely behing,maybe holding u etc.

out of 155 members there are only 10 that regularly post..i think we are in a stage of an overkill,there were times when there were new posts everyday specially in the old old forum but i guess everything or most has been said...

to the topic: it is usually described as gwo dou sik, ie. "transitional movement", i do not think it is someting core or important. could be used either as a throw or arm break, though, and works perfectly.

we have a transition. after the break, you step up, feet together and double backfist, bringing both fists to chamber. the turn left into horse stance(Sei ping ma?) not sure of the chinese word for it.

Lam sai wing version, by the way.

on the topic of forum posting, we may want to move this to another thread, but the amount of posts i begin to write and then choose not to is staggering. Less is more right? If i want to write garbage, i go to other places. It's my hope here that the few posts i do make are on topic, non inflammatory, and hopefully have some insight.

I think we all do the Lam sai Wing version and yet there are differences..
