Thank you Markt. Do you know if there is video available of such drills? The drills I know come straight from the set so I assume your's must be different.
I did some Youtubing, but there is not a lot to be found, and I had to look in with different spellings. Only stick I saw was much more monkey looking then our stick, and the form itself was completely different.

as far as i know, monkey king's staff (hau ji gwan, hang je paang) is from Wong Feihung, not from Lam Saiwing or Grandmaster Lam Jou. Jyu Yujai, student of Lam Saiwing, mentiones this set in his articles/books. Mok Gwailaan's lineage has it too, so do other families.
no modern wushu like imitation of monkey, very straightforward set.
my sigung taught the set in the past with a short monke yintro from daai sing, but the weapon imho does not come from Gang Dakoi - his monkey staff looks very differently, at least the one i have seen.
all the best

In addition to what PM says
I'd like to add the set before wasn't called Monkey (King) stick,
but only Traveller's Stick or Double End Stick.
Asmo,
I think you still do Lai Ng Sam version, at least that's what I saw on a tournament from another school of your Dutch Hung Gar Association - all weapons and subsets are still the same version as many years before, thus being Lai Ng Sam version.
Anyway, you check Eric Ling's forum, as E. van der Meulen posted the monkey stick set in pictures there before.
The Monkey Stick of Lai Ng Sam line is the set that looks the most the same as in other lineages - all the other sets have definitly other characteristics than Lam family and than Chiu family - as far as I can tell.
Only big difference is that in Lam family the Traveller's Stick is done as a total repeat set - where you go to the end, we repeat the total set again, before we go to the end.

Weapons are Lai Ng Sam versions indeed Chunyat. I have that photo series, bumped onto them from the forum you mentioned (which is sadly a bit inactive these days).
The name Traveller's Stick I have heard several times before. It makes sense.
I have Wing Lam's video on Monkey Stick and although there are some differences with ours overall it pretty much follows the same format.
Thank you for the info
