What's up Guys...

I decided to do some more detailed work explaning how Hung Kyun can adapt and apply. They are supposed to be viewed in order Hung Gar Concepts # 1 - 5... the details might make more sense in this regard.

Nobody else from the Hung Gar community has realy come forth and given out this type of information yet. Mostly it's been forms or foundation training. Why? Because in truth, most of the schools I see out there DO NOT know how to apply their bridging concepts on NON traditional people. So they end up training forms but fighting like Kick Boxers. This is a shame in my opinion.

Do they cover everything? No of course not, these are just some simple concepts

P.S. It would be nice if someone else were to step up and try to "Up the Ante" on this and keep this going by making MORE VIDS with even better details about HUNG...kinda like what the Wing Chun guys do.

How satisfying to get some concepts out on video, not just for others, but also for yourself. Really, when we see ourselves on video, we can often see things that we had not recognized before.

Also, I think we all know artists who have lived and died, without having recorded anything at all.

You bring a sense of realism to your techniques that is not commonly seen in Hung Kuen practitioners.

Hey "O", nice post! Great stuff you've given to the collective HK forum. As always there are valuable nuggets of info in your explanations. Much more than meets the eye. I always appreciate a new perspective on old applications. One technique can be so many things.

One particular explanation you showed not to break the grip to release the hand but to weaken the hand so that you can maintain contact and control the hand is valuable! My pet peeve is students who gain control of an opponent's bridge then release it to hit... aaaarrrggghh. Keep up the good work!

I wanted to give a shout out to O for sharin' this stuff. I had the chance to meet with him a couple of time here in SD. Great guy with some serious skills. If you get the chance to touch hands with him I couldn't encourage it more!

I know you probably mean well but sometimes I hate looking back at how I looked almost 20yrs ago. That was sport to me so of course very little style is involved..just try to win.

But I firmly believe that my understanding of Hung and how it can be applied is far superior now. Such as it is with Chinese martial arts...now that i'm getting older and don't feel the need to kick everyone's' Arse.

It's almost as if "Kung fu" makes sure that you are more of a responsible human being before you can FULLY understand what it's secrets are. haha.. if you get my meaning?

As for the historical stuff, which of us here can look back at our older footage and think, "Yeah, I was the sh!t back then." But then again, you did beat that guy down, whether it was as pretty as you'd like or not.
