speaking of Lion Dance...anyone know what kind of paint is used on the drum head (skin) of the Lion Drums?

Mostly pig skin. Makes me want to take a bite on the drum

most drum heads are also painted. ours wore off, and it may also aid in tightening up the skin..so which type of paint is used? Probably not latex or acrylic I'm guessing.

I'd always thought that it was enamel paint because that's what some old mo gwoon used to paint their windows with for privacy (usually red), so they'd use the leftover paint for touch-ups. I could be wrong

acrobatic lion dancing, not bad but i saw better in singapore...should be some championships in genthing in may aswell, ill try and record something.

Championship at Genting Highland will be in July, not May. However the date is still yet to be finalised. In my opinion the best lion dance competition in the world is the Malaysia National held every 2 years (the last one was in October 2011).

vtml do you live here? i live in KL and last year i missed the comps in genting because i took a month in thailand. i was told its every may so all my trips this year have basically been planned around that lolo. if you here any updates etc let me know please
