What do you interpret GING?
How do you train the "power" to come out?
What common mistakes do you see in Hung Kuen training regarding to GING?

My teacher explained me that among all the tools we can use in Hung Gar, there are only four which develop Ging. These are the iron rings, the wooden dummy and the long pole (called by the chineses the master's master). Last but not least the practise of empty hand form. All these need special attention and ultimately this depends on the quality of your teacher and your ability to learn the most out of him. The most difficult aspect in my opinion to learn how to put the right power during empty hands form, a whole-body kind of power.
All other tools, barbells, stone locks, contitioning exercizes, are meant to increase the body mass and endurance to hits, but do not increase Ging and if overtrained can slow down the development of the latter.

@Funkave-"only four?"hmmm...Lots of other things left out. I assume you don't Lion Dance, then...?
Also , there are many two-man hand drills that develop ging/alignment.
As far as supplementary devices, there are also bamboo, or rataan poles, wall bags, roller bar, bag catching and throwing, iron palm,and let's not forget bag work.

and we use all the other toys and tools, I have only been taught a strictier definition of Ging

@Faunkave-I would be interested in what your stricter definition of ging is.
Most of the methods I mentioned develop different types of ging.

Strictier might be betterer....
