Sad News from a match in China. A reminder that kung fu is really for health and long life, not just fighting.

well, shit happens, who knows what kind of predispositions he had. thousands of ppl fight in the ring every day, and vey rarely stuff like this happens.

Agreed Shit happens. The price of the shit is longer worth it to me. I think that I have really found much more profoundness of our style by using the set to keep me strong and healthy.

I know someone who is a yoga teacher... or was. She no longer does it because she told me that she found out that it was designed for young boys when it was first developed. She remarked that women she had known who were long time yoga students started to develop some rather boyish features, mannerisms, etc. Just food for thought.

@diafong, yeah Bikram is crazy. Good yoga, bad application.
As to the former yoga teacher thing. There is one branch which used hatha (athletic) yoga to attract new students which were mainly young boys.
I would however put the number of those killed in a sparring match vs those killed during a yoga class as way higher for the sparring match.

It is sad. But, some practitioners forget why some techniques are not to be used.
Are these fighters like gladiators just for entertainment for others.

hahahaha!!! That's so funny... I actually remember watching this a loooong time ago. Just watching that guy twist all around gives me the "eeebie-jeebies".

Are there any statistics of people dying in kungfu / sanda matches?
Statistically it's probably more dangerous to go outside (and get hit by a bus or something).
Anyway, different people different interests. Luckily Hung Kuen offers a lot.
