Well, Xiaoban's summary outline makes sense from a historical perspective, in that even today when somebody wants to ask your style, such inquiry may be worded as, "you are of which Mun Pai (門派)?"

In modern times (since after Wong Fei Hung), traditional arts had come to be taught in the public sphere, with no more necessity to be secretive than has a "World Gym", or "Gold's Gym", for example.

Thus, Lam Sai Wing Si Jo referred to his own teachings as, "Hung Kyun", and GM Lam Cho's business card would later state, "Siu Lam Kyun taught/ conferred". This, to reflect that you joined a Gym, and not a Mun or Pai.

Sure, in more recent-up-to-modern times, it's just a school-specific way of referring to the style's origin. As in, somebody wanted to write a magazine article (or name his organization).
