I was wondering about the number of movements in a set, other numbers we hear as eight (pakua), twelve bridges, sixty four, etc. depending the use and its origin either buddhist or taoist. How important is numerology in Hungkyuen.
Thanks,
Mig

Hung Kyun is a part of traditional Chinese culture - you will find there same numerical references as in other fields of knowledge in China. few examples are
1 - taai gik, grand ultimate
2 - leung yi, two forces
3 - saam sing, three stars
4 - sei jeung, four symbols, sei gik, four types of attack
5 - ng hang, ng ying, five elements, five animals
6 - luk hap, six harmonies
7 - chat sing, seven stars
8 - baat gwa, eight trigrams
10 - sap ying, ten forms
12 - sap yi ji kiu sau, twelve bridges
...
number of the movements in the set are said to be originaly/traditionaly multiple of 12 - 36, 72 or 108, as in most of the Siulam sets (well, but nobody knows how to count the movements anymore, so who knows... )

Like PM says, kungfu is part of Chinese culture. Anyone who has contact with Chinese regularly know they are quite superstitious and keen of following the right way of doing things. If you want to know more I suggest you get some book(s) on Feng Shui. Although this is not directly Feng Shui it will help you get an idea what & why.

Nine Children Continuous Fists? Probably more accurate as Nine Sons Continuous Fists? Going off purely from the sound now so I could be really off.
