Hi all. Are there plans for a Hung Gar wiki to be built somewhere? How much interest is there in building a wiki. Not how many would love to see one but how many can contribute to content. I'd be willing to start something if I knew other people could help me keep momentum going. I personally don't have too much experience with managing a wiki but I'm willing to try. I shudder to think of all the information that went untransmitted for whatever reason.

Just gauging interest. If enough people respond then we can start planning.

I saw that thread. It didn't have any recent updates so I didn't know if it was still being worked on. What I was imagining was more of a open forum/encyclopedia on the web rather than a book. I wanted to also include drills and other exercises as well as other points of view or discussions of philosophy from many people to see how others train or feel about hung gar.

The idea is brilliant, also as a website would allow clips etc. But to be honest I think in practice, even if many will agree to participate and add content it will die out pretty soon after you started it and not enough content will be added to get to the goal you were after...

i agree with Asmo, moreover, i personally think that most of the content will be repeated "facts" form old IKF magazines and similar "reliable" info. i mean, how many guys regularly go to China, interview old masters, research and translate old Chinese books and articles, do ANY research? i know just couple of guys like this

anyway i would also like to have here something like http://www.wingchunpedia.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php here, but unfortunately, i guys who always promise to help with the programming just promise to do something, but never do anything

Thanks for the... encouraging discouragement? hehe. Yeah this is why I started this thread. I wanted to see if I should bother putting my time doing this. I'll wait for a while and see who else is around but maybe I'll just focus on training and waiting patiently for my sifu to finish his book.

Anyway, when is your English book due? Any deadline you set yourself? (you should, it will really help to get it going)

my deadline for the Czech version is 6/2010 (i actualyl made a bet that it will be ready to print). English version is already partialy ready, so what is needed is to translate the rest and do some proof reading. i have some other interesting publishing projects (for this server) that may come sooner than my book.
