The bearded guy is right about one thing: experience. To be a good fighter, you need to have fighting experience in order to understand timing, spacing, and pain.
Thai boxing is about hitting a lot and getting hit a lot, but what is the life-expectancy of the thai boxer? Take that style and put it in a society with a higher life expectancy and a higher standard of living, and what happens? The same thing as any other martial art.
It's how someone like me, who has only trained in hung ga and jow ga could beat two of the thai boxers at my school. It's about how you train and how you put that training to use.
